Swimming

My career in aquatics started at the age of 15, as a springboard diving instructor, with teaching and lifeguarding certification following. I currently teach lifeguarding courses several times a year at the UBC Aquatic Centre, and lead CPR and Standard First Aid courses with Link2Life at various locations or at their headquarters in East Van.

My aquatic certifications include:

Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI)

Apprentice Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer

Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Service (NLS)

Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Service Instructor

Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Service Recert Examiner

Lifesaving Society First Aid Instructor

Canadian Amateur Diving Association Instructor Level 1

BC Waterpolo Association Level C Referee

I have also taken workshops with Red Cross trainers in Adapted Aquatics, and with National Swim Team coaches in advanced stroke mechanics. My clients have included children and youth with special needs (I have limited working proficiency in American Sign Language), youth and adults ranging from non-swimmers to those training for WSI and NLS certification or for their first triathlons, and adults recovering from debilitating injuries referred to me by their medical practitioners.
